CASE STUDIES : DATABASE DRIVEN CATALOGUE

Background:

Leptos Calypso Hotels is one of the leading Cyprus hotel chains. Its portfolio currently comprises 8 hotels - 7 in Cyprus, Paphos and one in Crete, Chania.

Description:

Leptos Calypso Hotels needed to distribute on periodical basis high resolution images (and other documents) of its properties to Tour Operators, Travel Agencies and other partners for further inclusion of selected photographs into brochures, posters etc. Historically each hotel of the Group was preparing and distributing its own CD.

Management of the Group decided to prepare one CD with all the material needed for distribution. Softrix was asked to prepare a program that would allow easy location, previewing and retrieval of stored material.

Solution

The amount of data was significant and relatively complex: each hotel had from 15 to 80 high resolution images to display each of which should have had title, short description, size indication.

We developed highly intuitive and database driven application. Its navigation system consists of outlined menu (tree view) on one side that allowed us to categorize all items by country, by hotel and further category the image belongs to. On the other side we have implemented “filmstrip view” to browse preview items in selected category and perform additional actions like saving of the high resolution image on user’s hard drive (as was required in this particular case)

To produce this application we have used:

Upon completion of the project Softrix designed on-envelope and on-CDROM-body printing.
