CASE STUDIES : LEDA TRAVEL WEB SITE

Background:

Leda Travel is Cyprus based IATA agency, Tour Operator and Handling agent for major tour operators worldwide.

Leda Travel handles incoming and outgoing tours, ticketing for all major airlines, insurance, cargo, clearing, shipping and forwarding.

Description:

Leda Travel needed to on-line representation of its main products: vacation packages, hotel accommodation, flight tickets, mini-cruises and car hire.

After considering connectivity to systems like Amadeus it was decided that development of products’ database along with booking engine, content management and system to automate request processing would be more cost-effective solution for the time being.

 
   

Solution

Developed solution consisted of three main parts –

  • Web application with simple and clear interface that allows user easily locate services they need, store for later consideration, request availability and / or book selected products. For some products like packages we created “search to fit budget” feature that was taking automatically into account number of traveling adults and children and was listing packages which calculated price met search criteria.
  • Custom content management system – to enable Leda Travel staff members to edit, add or remove information in regards to all five products plus special offers.
  • Booking Handling program – this program was developed to assist Leda Travel staff members to process requests and bookings they receive from the web site. The program was implemented as Windows thin client that connects to the database, monitors for new requests or bookings and notifies its user(s). This program also take care of encryption/ decryption of sensitive data, compiles emails from preset templates and information retrieved about clients orders to save time of Leda Travel’s employees.

Result

The result was a web site that delivered great travel related products to its customers, while extending Leda Travel’s wide gamma of added service into another dimension.
